Summertime has been filled with exciting projects for me. (More on that soon, I promise!)
I don't know about you, but I always want to do things FAST. I jump in. I get going. I work hard.
It's a strength of mine. But sometimes I wonder...is it a weakness, too? Are there times when it's better for us to slow down and see what unfolds? To hold back a little?
Sometimes a project isn't a race.
Sometimes the magic is in the waiting.
Look at these two pictures of Holly, taken about an hour apart. The boys tucked her in on the sofa with her new toy from Santa. (Yes, we treat our dog like a person...I know, I know, it's WRONG for about a thousand reasons, but that's just the way we roll.)
But when I walked by an hour later, I found this:
She'd wiggled over by herself and somehow hugged her toy.
The best moments, the best work, the best writing, the best idea, the best artwork...sometimes the MAGIC takes a little time.
I'm really talking to myself here...are you listening, CATHERINE????? But I guess I'm also talking to you. If you've got an idea, a special project, something new you're trying to launch, a lifestyle change, a new career, a new direction, consider this:
It takes courage to slow down.
Thinking things through brings the magic.
Sending you love (& creative juice) this weekend, wherever you are.
P.S. Help?! Tell me, when do you rush? When do you go slowly? Why? Share your thoughts here :)
If you need a creative jumpstart or some inspiration, try this.
Find me on Instagram...a very cool picture this week of the Queen Vic Building in Sydney!
