Hello!
Here's me yesterday, running out the door to another Literary Speed Dating event like last year....but this year I didn't have the chocolate lunch. Yep, it went well! More book news soon...
Today I have a question for me & you.
It's a tough one.
Are you taking care of yourself?
I am (always) so slack at this one, and I want to get better at it. I mean, we're ALL pretty good at taking care of other people, right? We're helpful to friends, some of us care for families or elderly parents or grandbabies etc. But do we take care of ourselves? Not always.
I heard this a couple of weeks ago and I think Rob Bell is right.
What do you need?
Rest?
Peace?
Tea?
To sleep more or move around more?
What I needed this week was more time in nature. So we drove three hours to my favourite beach and I stood and watched the sunset. Beauty and peace, that's how I take care of me.
Isn't the ocean at twilight amazing (even though it was 18 degrees at the beach & New South Wales winter chilly)?
So here's the deal: is there something you can do today to take good care of yourself?
Because what your people really need -- even when they're hurting, even when they're in trouble -- is you, with a full tank and a full heart.
Catherine x
