My sweet American friend, Brooke, shared a quick photo she snapped of her little girl...with this caption: 'SEE THE GREEN RING? That's Malina's. Nobody puts Baby in a corner...'
Oh, my lord. I laughed until I cried.
Brooke's little blonde pumpkin is DANCING, not caring, OUTSIDE HER RING. She's not following the rules or giving a toss about being different.
Malina is herself. She's dancing.
But things change.
As we get older, it can take some courage to Be Catherine, Be Annie, Be Marisa, Be Rita, or Sharon or Sandy or Tara or Sheila or Adele or Heather or Trish...in all our crazy glory. We do what's safe or what other people think is okay.
It can take some time to figure out what we really love and have the courage to do it.
Brooke's little girl reminds us that nobody should put Baby in a corner.
The trick is not to put ourselves there.
