It's NYE in Australia!
I want to thank you so much for being part of my world this year. You're an inspiration to me -- friends, writing buddies, lovely people, wonderful musicians, teachers, artists, mamas-of-littles, business owners, composers...to see even a partial list of who you are, go here!
2017 was a huge year for me. More on that soon. My fabulous year made me think of a new kind of list.
So here it is:
3 Risky Things We Should Do in 2018
1. Find Expanders
Look for 3 people who will expand your vision of what's possible for you. Read about the mother who started share trading during baby-naps or the 83 year old who started to paint. Find the novelist who also writes non-fiction. Seek out an introvert who started a podcast. You want to do something new (I know you do!). Find people who are already doing those things. You don't have to know your Expanders personally -- you can watch them online, read about them, whatever -- but their job is to enlarge your world. (Credit for this idea goes to Lacey Philips....thanks, Lacey!)
2. Write 2 Lists: What is working? What isn't?
It's amazing how simple this is and how it will clear your mind. If you're sad, worried, stuck or just want to revamp your life a little, these two little questions are solid gold. Read this blog post to learn more about how I did it. (This idea is Brooke Castillo's....thanks, Brooke!)
3. Surprise Yourself
In 2018, do at least one surprising thing. Change your hair (style? colour?). Take a class. Write the lyrics to a song. Buy yourself a surprising present (a baseball glove? a negligee? Okay, for the men who read my blog, that WOULD be surprising... ha!) Just do one thing, anything, that is "not you."
Promise me, please??
See what happens.
Why?
Because the world is filled with amazing-ness, and though our neural pathways LOVE what is the same, you deserve the surprise and wonder and joy of doing something NEW.
Happy NEW year, everybody.
So much love coming your way, from my Australian home to yours -- wherever you are in this beautiful world.
Catherine xx
