You guys! Have you heard of Ramit Sethi, the Stanford grad and entrepreneur?
He's not really my jam, but he wrote this hilarious free e-book of business advice called Surrogate Asian Father. I read this quote and laughed until I practically peed my pants.
Because YES! Mostly I want to eat croissants with you. And have you tell me it's not my fault.
I want tea and sympathy.
Puppies and croissants.
<Our Shih Tzu @ 5 months old. Obviously it was hard work getting outside.>
But its time to confess: I've spent too much time (& too many croissants) talking about what I don't want. Which gives me this: more of what I don't want.
Try This At Home...
So I decided to flip it. When I hear myself saying (thinking), "I don't want xxxx," I flip to this:
Better, right?
What I do want is a harmonious night of homework with two tired high schoolers. What I do want is some help folding laundry and emptying the dishwasher. What I do want is a surprising, fun opportunity to come my way.
Is it time to start dreaming (again)?
Have you dreamed up anything NEW for yourself lately?? Sometimes I get so busy / worried / tired that I forget to dream. I just live my days.
But for everybody (even the most successful people, no matter how old we are), it's important to dream up new adventures. Growth makes us happy. Stagnation makes us feel like a dead wombat. Or worse.
So I've started to say this:
Dream big, guys. And be fun to live with this weekend!
