It’s ridiculous how happy it makes me that Microsoft Word has a pop up message saying ‘Welcome Back!’ when I open an existing file.
All autumn, whenever I went back to make revisions to the draft of my novel, Sugar, I was greeted with that message. I had a lot of hard work ahead of me and some days, my motivation was low.
Welcome Back!
It made me feel so much better. Two words, more happiness.
It makes me think…I should say this to my family when they get home. Welcome Back!!
Gretchen Rubin, happiness guru, suggests we should all give ‘warm hellos and goodbyes.’
When the kids leave for school in the morning, a heartfelt ‘See ya later.’ When our partner comes home from work, a kiss hello.
When a friend drops you off at your front door…a hand squeeze? A smile? A hug? When you’re leaving a shop with your groceries, an upbeat ‘See you next time’?
Being real. Being kind. It’s surprisingly easy to start a revolution.
Welcome Back to noticing our own lives, and how good they are.
