‘Everything blooms in autumn in Sydney,’ I called out to a fellow dog-walker yesterday. The trees were gorgeous, loaded with white and purple blossoms. So was the ground.
‘Yes, and it’s such a mess to clean up,’ she said.
She was right. And I’m right.
There are beautiful messy blossoms everywhere.
It made me think – two people can look at exactly the same circumstance and see a different truth. Every moment, we get to choose bitter or sweet.
Are we blessed or burdened? Are we overcoming a problem, or stuck in it? Are the blossoms beautiful or just another mess?
Life is bittersweet.
What I know is this: I can’t control circumstances. Blossoms will fall. But I have 100% control over the story I tell myself about them.
I make myself happier when I choose sweet.
